Werewolves of Foxbridge

In the traditional sense, werewolves are considered a type of chaotic shapeshifter that can turn into a wolf-like creature during a full moon. In Foxbridge this is only partially true. Werewolves are an abomination of an ancient alchemist that discovered the shapeshifting wolves of the north long ago. He wanted to recreate their magic and abilities in humans. Yet another attempt at a magically innate human that failed miserably. The scientific nature of these beasts is similar to that of Frankenstein and multiple methods of creating them were used.

There were a few true shapeshifters that originally agreed with the idea of creating more of them through humans as they knew they would eventually go extinct. After seeing the results of the alchemist’s tests, they decided the experiment was a failure and backed out of said agreement. Unfortunately, the alchemist did not allow them to just leave and instead captured them to continue his experimentation.
To this day, there are werewolves still wandering Foxbridge that originate from the alchemist’s experiments.

Werewolves are loners that do not stay in one place for long, fearing they will be either outcasts or targets for noble collectors of dying breeds and magical creatures. When they reproduce, their offspring usually inherit the same traits as the werewolf parents. Their transformation is often painful and dreaded as it is the restructure and growth of their flesh and bones that takes place. None of this is determined solely by the full moon but instead a werewolf has an established cycle of the moon in which it changes only at night during this cycle. These cycles can last from three to seven days.
